What a great summary of one of the most important facets of leadership from the global statesman, Henry Kissinger.

Too often, leaders seem to think their role is one of telling people what to do without either leading the way or setting an example.

And then there is leadership by fear, where people are told of the dire consequences of what is seen as failure.

With bad leaders it really is a case of, “Do as I say, not as I do.”

Great leaders, on the other hand, actively engage with their people and develop them, leading them from within to reach their joint goals.

Great leaders hire the best, are not afraid of hiring people that might be better than them, that will voice concerns and question things, and take pride in what their people accomplish along the way.

What do you see as your most important leadership skills?
